I'd so much rather be writing about you than me (tad awkward) but here we go.
I have a relaxed but organised outlook on life and I firmly believe if you can do something to bring a little joy to another creature's life (I don't discriminate between flesh, fur, feathers or fins) then why wouldn't you?
Family and friends report I'm a warm, friendly, curious person, which works well for me as a celebrant because I am genuinely fascinated by people and love to deep dive into all your stories.
As a lifetime scribbler (stories, poems, letters, reports) I'll weave together all the gems I have teased from you to paint your story in as much colour as you desire. Whether it's broad brushstrokes or light feather touches, I will find the perfect balance to illustrate you.
In 2015 my husband and I eloped to Nantucket, a romantic island off the coast of Boston. The ceremony was just me, my husband and the celebrant because in Massachusetts you don't need witnesses - I know, go figure?
Although we did upset a few family and friends (genuinely sorry about that ... Grace, Bridgie, Fleur) it was the perfect ceremony for us and that was largely due to our celebrant. She made it personal, meaningful and her warmth wrapped around us like a blanket. Unwittingly, she also planted a seed about what I really wanted to do. Some smug humans know from birth what they want to be and focus in on it like a heat seeking missile, but it took me decades of being a "grown up" before I stumbled across the perfect gig for me.
Thankfully from those previous decades of accounting (who doesn’t love a great spreadsheet) and medical practice management (think herding cats on crutches) I bring all my organisational and people skills to step you through the legals, vow writing, music selections and every possible ceremony twist.
When I’m not being a celebrant you might find me enjoying time with my husband and our family. Combined we have six grown up kids. two grandbabies plus our favourite four legged child - Lucy the greyhound! Lucy, like Otto before her, is a rescue from the racing industry and the sweetest, goofiest creature.
Like everyone I have my quirks including collecting over 1000 china thimbles that I've hunted down in every part of the world. I get really excited if I see a touristy gift shop as my chances of scoring a thimble increase in direct correlation with the volume of tacky tourist souvenirs on offer. Over the years I've even managed to convince some of my classiest family and friends to purchase them on my behalf, much to their disbelief.
I love a good giggle and catching up with friends over a cuppa or a cheeky vino. My closest friends I've had for decades so our conversations lurch like drunken spiders from one topic to the next in a chaotic mishmash!
Anyway, enough about me, I'd really love to hear about you, so If I sound like your kind of celebrant, please get in touch for a obligation-free catch up.
